Half-Term Ideas in and round Lower Sundon
Keeping your little ones entertained is a never-ending stream of ideas. Banana Moon Lower Sundon is surrounded by lots of lovely places to go as a family during the Half-Term, and we’ve also got some other ideas for you to try at home!

 FROST’S PUMPKIN FARM

You could spend an afternoon out at Frost’s Garden Centre at Willington, where they have created a ‘pick-you-own’ pumpkin, Hallowe’en themed patch. There is is a small entry fee but lots of creative and fun activities for your little (and not so little!) ones to get stuck into. The centre can be found on Sandy Rd, Willington, Bedford MK44 3QP - Willington store | Based in Sandy, Bedforshire (frostsgardencentres.co.uk)

DIWALI IN LUTON

What about heading into Diwali Luton, a free family event in St George’s Square, Luton, on Friday 27 October (from 3pm to 10pm) and on Saturday 28 October (from 12pm to 10pm). Lots of wonderful live performances, with stalls and workshops and refreshment stands, and finishing with spectacular fireworks! Check out Diwali in Luton - 27th / 28th October 2023, St George's Square

NATURE WALKS IN THE PARK
Why not get out and about and have a nature walk with a purpose: leaves for categorising by size, or creating animal collages, or starting that life-long, completely necessary skill of creating a collection. Did you have a shoebox full of conkers? A shelf full of the most amazing pinecones? Or how about some good old fashioned puddle-jumping? Often it’s easier to leave the house with a clear intention – what could you go out and do? Here’s a great list of local parks from Days Out With the Kids – why not try a different park? 20 Best Parks and Playgrounds In Luton Near Me | Attractions in Bedfordshire | Day Out With The Kids

HEDGEHOGS!
What about having a little project about hedgehogs? This is THE time of the year to learn about these wonderful creatures. Do you remember reading Miss Tiggy Winkle by Beatrix Potter?

Maybe you could make them a hedgehog house in your garden? You could probably do this with things you have lying around. And if you don’t have a garden, perhaps you could pop round to friends and family that do? Here’s a really handy guide to making your own: How To Build A Hedgehog House With Children | Muddy Puddles - Muddy Puddles Kids Waterproofs & Swim

What do hedgehogs eat?

Or you could make your own, collecting some twigs for the spines and making your own air-drying clay hedgehogs? All you need is 2 cups of bicarbonate of soda, 1 cup of cornflour plus more for kneading and rolling out, and 1 ½ cups water. Just mix these together and warm gently, stirring constantly (get those gross muscles working!) for a few minutes until it comes together and can be manipulated by little hands. You can also roll this dough out and use cookie cutters which can dry into ornaments that you can paint! Start practising for Christmas…
